Why district boundaries surprise buyers
School district lines and city limits are drawn independently of each other. A Mishawaka mailing address can feed Penn-Harris-Madison, School City of Mishawaka, or John Glenn depending on the street. Homes on Elkhart's east side may sit in Concord Community Schools rather than Elkhart Community Schools. The same pattern holds across Berrien and Cass counties in Michigan - a Niles address can be Brandywine or Buchanan district territory.
The consequences are real at resale. Two homes on the same street can feed different districts, and buyers who assume a city name means a matching district sometimes discover otherwise after closing. I verify the assigned district for every address my clients seriously consider - use this finder to shortlist, then confirm with the district's boundary office or map before making an offer.
